Last
year we started the Eurovision Fan Reviews, where you the readers
review the songs taking part in the Eurovision Song Contest. And today
we bring you the sixth Eurovision Fan Review for the 2015 contest!
The person who will be starting off the 2015 fan reviews is Manel from the Portugal. He will be reviewing the Estonia Eurovision entry "Goodbye To Yesterday" by Elina & Stig.
You can check out what he has to say about the entry below.
1. Hello Manel, thank for agreeing to this, How long have you been a Eurovision fan for?
Manel: Oh, I'm the one who should thank you for letting me do this! Well, the first memory that I have from Eurovision is from 2008. I remember that some people in the sitting room were watching it but I wasn't paying any attention to it. My grandmother had mentioned that Diana Gurtskaya was blind (I was little, so I thought it was strange to perform with sunglasses). But I should definitely say that my Eurovision madness started in 2012. I have been totally obsessed with the competition since Baku 2012 happened to my life, which was quite an accident to be honest.
2. As we know Estonia selected their Eurovision 2015 entry through Eesti Laul 2015. Did you watch the show? If so what were some of your highlights?
Manel: Yes, I watched the shows. I only watched a tiny part of the first semi-final but I did watch the second semi-final as it had a lot of potential. The final was indeed incredible: to see Elina & Stig performing that well, Daniel Levi coming second and Elisa Kõlk coming third (I also liked these ones). The highlights were Elina & Stig's performance and when they showed my tweet in the blue green room!
3. The winner of Eesti Laul 2015 was Elina Born & Stig Rästa with the song "Goodbye to Yesterday", Could you tell us what you think of the song?
Manel: Worthy winner of Eesti Laul. This song is A•M•A•Z•I•N•G (and hey, I liked Tanja!). It has these neo-60's vibes and their voices are perfect. The performance is very cool but I think they can still improve it and bring the chandeliers to Vienna!
4. How would you compare "Goodbye To Yesterday" to recent Eurovision entries from Estonia?
Manel: Goodbye To Yesterday is very unique so I think it cannot be very well compared to Estonia's previous entries, which involve a lot genres (from ballads and jazz to dance and... Leto Svet?).
5. Estonia will be performing in the first half of the first Eurovision semi-final, do you think this is a good place for them to perform?
Manel: They seem to be habituated to that position so I think that everything will work out fine. They also seem to be very relaxed and that can bring them some extras on the actual night…
6. Where do you think Estonia will place overall in this years Eurovision Song Contest?
Manel: If Estonia is not going to win this year's edition, then I seriously don't have a clue of who's winning it this year. They are fresh and have a good chemistry. I don't find the recent comments about the song, which say "Goodbye To Yesterday" is boring, any relevant to be completely honest with you.
7. Finally, what are you most looking foward to about this years Eurovision Song Contest?
Manel: The Semi-Final 1! Only two months left now! The postcards seem to be lovely this year too!Hugs from Portugal
