Last
year we started the Eurovision Fan Reviews, where you the readers
review the songs taking part in the Eurovision Song Contest. And today
we bring you the 17th Eurovision Fan Review for the 2015 contest!
The person who we will be reviewing the next song in the 2015 fan reviews is Arianna from the Canada. She will be reviewing Romania's Eurovision entry "De la capăt (All Over Again)" by Voltaj.
You can check out what she has to say about the entry below.
1. Hello Arianna, thank you for agreeing to this, how long have you been a Eurovision fan for?
Arianna: Hiya, Jess, I've been a fan since 2006, but more of an involved one (following NFs) since 2012 :)
2. As we know Romania selected their Eurovision 2015 entry via Selecția Națională 2015. Did you watch the show? If so, what were some of your favourite moments?
Arianna: Yep, I watched Selecția Națională this year. A couple of my favourite moments were Lara Lee's Superman performance and when Ruslana took over the show for a lengthy period of time which got us wondering if she was really supposed to be on the stage that long.
3. We know that Voltaj was crowned the winner of Selecția Națională 2015 with the song "De la capăt (All Over Again)". What is your opinion on the song?
Arianna: I really love Voltaj's song. It's very touching and the lyrics really reach out to you. It was a good choice.
4. In your own opinion, how would you compare "De la capăt (All Over Again)" to recent Eurovision entries from Romania?
Arianna: "De la capăt", compared to recent Romanian entries has a much softer touch. It's the most honest compared to recent years. The song takes yet another different path than what Romania has taken before. It's not a club pop hit, it's not popera, it's not a loud, enthusiastic dance tune. "De la capăt" is a slower song with more substance.
5. Romania will be performing 15th in the first semi-final of Eurovision 2015. Do you think this is a good place for them to perform?
Arianna: Yep, I think 15th is good for them. It's a lucky draw, really. Unfortunately I also have thoughts that it might have a difficult time qualifying because it's a ballad among ballads. But it does have a more rock substance, which I think will benefit them, and being closer to the end or the running order will give the push that song needs to get into the final.
6. Where do you think Romania will place overall in this years Eurovision Song Contest?
Arianna: I think Romania will earn a respectable 15th - 20th. Maybe I'll be bold and say 10-15th? Or maybe we'll be surprised and it'll scrape a top 10 depending on the performance at ESC?
7. Finally, what are you most looking forward to about this years contest?
Arianna: Well... I'm going to Eurovision this year for the first time.. I'm looking forward to THE WHOLE THING! :P Mostly meeting up with people and mingling at the fan cafe, and of course the shows themselves.
