Last
year we started the Eurovision Fan Reviews, where you the readers
review the songs taking part in the Eurovision Song Contest. And today
we bring you the 16th Eurovision Fan Review for the 2015 contest!
The person who we will be reviewing the next song in the 2015 fan reviews is Lottie from the United Kingdom. She will be reviewing Albania's Eurovision entry "I'm Alive" by Elhaida Dani.
You can check out what she has to say about the entry below.
1. Hello Lottie, thank you so much for agreeing to this, how long have you been a Eurovision fan?
Lottie: Hello, thank you for letting me do this for ESC-Starz! :D I've always enjoyed watching Eurovision, but I only became a proper fan this year as the result of thoroughly enjoying last year's ESC, so I'm quite new. :)
2. Albania selected their Eurovision artist through Festivali i Këngës 53. Did you watch the show? If so, what were some of your favourite moments from it?
Lottie: I wasn't able to watch the live shows but I did listen to the entries, and I quite liked Saimir Braho's performance with Kristal. It's very catchy and got stuck in my head!
3. As we know Elhaida Dani won the show with the song "Diell", however she will be representing Albania in the Eurovision Song Contest with the song "I'm Alive". In your own words, what do you think of "I'm Alive"?
Lottie: I think it's a great song! Elhaida's vocals are incredible - she has a unique tone to her voice and it's nice to listen to. Also, I love how the song starts off quite calmly and by the last chorus it's much more energetic, then goes back to being soft again right at the end. It's a great effect.
4. How would you compare "I'm Alive" to recent Eurovision entries from Albania?
Lottie: I think "I'm Alive" is quite similar to 2014 but different from 2013, 2012 and 2011. 2013 and 2011's songs were much more lively and relied more on a strong, catchy beat rather than the tone of voice. I find that both singers of 'One Night's Anger' and 'I'm Alive' have unique voices and the songs have a strong chorus whilst having calmer dynamics too, which makes them similar in this sense although the two melodies are totally different.
5. Albania will be performing 14th in the first semi-final of Eurovision 2015. Do you think this is a good place for the to perform?
Lottie: In my opinion, it is a great place to perform. It's near the end of all of the performances, which could be beneficial because people will remember it more and therefore the might vote for it. Also, it's in the first Semi Final so Elhaida will get a few days longer to prepare for the grand final if she does qualify!
6. Where do you think Albania will place overall in this years Eurovision Song Contest?
Lottie: I think it could go either way - As 'I'm Alive' has similar elements to 2014's entry, it may not qualify as was the case of 'One Night's Anger'. However, I think Albania has a good chance in qualifying this year as it seems to be a favourite amongst many eurofans. If it did qualify I would imagine it would place around the middle of the scoreboard. :)
7. Finally, what are you most looking forward to about this years contest?
Lottie: I'm looking forward to it all! I'm excited to see how Australia will fare, as they are brand new to the competition and who knows how the rest of Europe will act because of this? Furthermore I can't wait to be supporting my home country, the UK! :D
