Last
year we started the Eurovision Fan Reviews, where you the readers
review the songs taking part in the Eurovision Song Contest. And today
we bring you the fifth Eurovision Fan Review for the 2015 contest!
The person who will be starting off the 2015 fan reviews is Emily from the United Kingdom. she will be reviewing the Belarus Eurovision entry "Time" by Uzari & Maimuna.
You can check out what she has to say about the entry below.
1. Hello Emily, thank for agreeing to this, How long have you been a Eurovision fan for?
Emily: Hey there! I've been a fan of Eurovision ever since I was little. At 8 years old, the first contest I saw was Athens 2006 when Lordi won for Finland. I've been watching every year since then. Now as a 17 year old, I've been running a Twitter (@EurovisionEmily) and a Tumblr blog (only-eurovision.tumblr.com) for over a year now and since 2012 I've become much more involved with the contest.
2. As we know Belarus selected their Eurovision 2015 entry through a national selection, Did you watch the show? If so what where some of your highlights?
Emily: I did watch the show, there were some many great artists such as Milki and Muzzart, as well as Uzari & Maimuna of course. My highlight was just being able to watch a National Final with Twitter friends and livetweeting the few hours. It was also strange seeing Twitter blow up about the fact that Milki (favourites to win) didn't win due to the jury votes.
3. The winner of the selection was Uzari & Maimuna with the song "Time", Could you tell us what you think of the song?
Emily: I absolutely loved "Time" from the first time I heard it. I hadn't predicted it to win the National Final, and so it was nice to see something unexpected. The violin (especially after the revamp) is very prominent which I love in any song (e.g "Fairytale" by Alexander Rybak and "Hunter of Stars" by Sebalter), and the song itself is very catchy. The chorus is memorable and the lyrics are clever. Overall, a great song!
4. How would you compare "Time" to recent Eurovision entries from Belarus?
Emily: It's different to what Belarus has sent before, which is nice to see. I must say that "Time" is amongst my favourite Belarussian entries, along with "Work Your Magic" (2007) and "We Are The Heroes" (2012).
5. Belarus will be performing in the second half of the first Eurovision semi-final, do you think this is a good place for them to perform?
Emily: I think they have a good chance to qualify with this position. There is only one other duet in this semi-final (Estonia) and so they have a good chance to stand out. Additionally, performing in the second half is usually a safer place to perform, as it means they don't have the chance of being forgotten.
6. Where do you think Belarus will place overall in this years Eurovision Song Contest?
Emily: I'm hoping they'll qualify, and then possibly come in the top 10-14. Realistically I think Uzari needs to work on his live vocals a bit more, to make sure they're as strong as they can be, especially on the higher notes.
7. Finally, what are you most looking foward to about this years Eurovision Song Contest?
Emily: I'm looking forward to having a good time, and hearing all of my favourite songs perform in the shows in Vienna!
