Hello!
A few weeks ago we launched a new feature that ment we interview someone from each country in the Eurovision Song Contest 2014 & ask their review on their countries entry!
Today we are interviewing Mila Kovalj about Denmark's 2014 entry!
Mila Kovalj is a Eurovision fan from Denmark! She went to Eurovision last year and was lucky enough to watch her country win this amazing contest! Since Denmark won the contest Mila has been very busy getting involved with Eurovision 2014 and is even part off the Montenegro Delegation team!
We asked Mila is we could do this interview for us and she had very kindly agreed! You can read what she has to say to us about Denmark's entry in the Eurovision Song Contest 2014 below!
1. Hi Mila! Thanks for agreeing to do this! How long have you been a Eurovision fan?
Mila: Hi! No problem, I'm sure it's going to be really fun! Well it all started when I watched Eurovision in 2002, because a singer I loved was representing Denmark. I thought the concept was really amazing, and that there were some great songs, like Malta's song from that year is still one of my all time favorites. So I guess you can say it was love at first sight.
2. As we know Denmark won Eurovision 2013 (which you where there live), Could you tell us what it was like seeing your country win Eurovision live?
Mila: Yeah I can. It was litterally one of the most amazing things I have experienced. I remember all of us Danish OGAE fans were standing together, and even though Emmelie was the big favorite to win, we were actually very nervous. The voting was super nervewracking in the first part, espeically since we didn't get any point from San Marino, the first country that voted. But then as the voting progressed, and we realised what was going to happen, we all got very excited, and when Emmelie was announced as the winner, we all kind of exploded of happiness, and started dancing and singing, and it was just magical.
3. We also know you went to Dansk Melodi 2014, Could you tell us what it some off the highlights from watching the show?
Mila: I think my highlight was just the whole atmosphere. The were a big party throughout the whole show, and people were really supportive of all 10 songs. Everyone cheered, danced and sang along to every song.
4. As we know Basim was choosen to represent Denmark in Eurovision 2014, How would you compare his vocals to recent Denmark entries?
Mila: I think the Danish entrants always have had good vocals in the recent years, and I think Basim has as well. His voice is strong and suits the song really well, which I think makes a lot of sense, since he has co-written it. So yeah, I think we will have good vocals in our entry as usual.
5. The song Basim will be singing is "Cliche Love Song", What do you think off the song?
Mila: I love ”Cliche Love Song” so much. It's a great pop song with a catchy melody and it has a positive feeling to it, which I really like about it. Actually ever since it came out, the first thing I do when I wake up in the morning is listening to it, because it always puts a smile on my face, so I always feel like I'm ready for the day after having listened to it.
6. Denmark where drawn to perform 23rd in Eurovision 2014, Do you think that is a good place to perform?
Mila: I think 23rd is perfect actually. First of all it's really good to perform in the 2nd half of the show, as people are more likely to remember you, when the voting begins, and also last time Denmark hosted Eurovision, we performed as 23rd as well and we came 2nd, so I think it's a great draw for us.
7. Like we said earlier Denmark won Eurovision 2013, Do you think you could make it a double win?
Mila: Hmm... I think that's so hard to say, but I do believe we have a chance, even if the song is not a typical fan favorite. As I said earlier we have a really good draw, and year is really heavy on ballads, so I think Basim will stand out, because his song is such a happy party song, and I don't really think there is any song like ”Cliche Love Song” this year, and as I said, I do think it's a great song. A thing that will also help Basim, I think, is the audience. I've been to Dansk Melodi Grand Prix four times before, and I never experienced anyone having the ammount of support that Basim had when he performed, so when he performs at Eurovision the crowd is going to go mad, and I think that will translate very well on to the screen. So if Europe is in the mood for a party, I think Basim could do it, but you never know what people like so we'll see in May how it goes.
8. Finally what are you most looknig foward to in Eurovision 2014?
Mila: I'm just looking forward for it all to begin. I feel like the days are going so slow right now. But I just look forward to everything, it's going to be great couple of weeks in Copenhagen.
