Hello!
On the 1st February Switzerland held Die Große Entscheidungsshow (The Switerland Eurovision National Final) to decide Switzerland entry into the Eurovision Song Contest 2014 in Copenhagen, Denmark!
The winner of the show was Sebastiano Paù-Lessie aka Sebalter, with his song "Hunter Of Stars"!
Sebalter will be the 54th Switzerland entry into the Eurovision Song Contest!
Switzerland where the first ever hosts and winners of the Eurovision Song Contest back in 1956, where Lys Assia won with with the song "Refrain". Since the first contest Switzerland have won twice (1956 & 1988) could Sebalter make it a third win for Switzerland?
Well we can not tell your where Sebalter will place but we can bring you an interview with the man himself! Sebalter has kindley answered a few questions we sent his way! Read our interview with him below!
First of all a massive congrats on winning Die GroßeEntscheidungsshow! Can you tell us how it feels to be Switzerland Eurovision entry this year?
"Thank you! On one hand I feel positively overwhelmed and satisfied by a musical achievement I have been longing for long time.
On the other hand there is a feeling of responsibility and serious commitment that is present: I am going to represent my country, and that is very important."
What inspired you to go for Eurovision this year?
"Last summer I made a trip in the USA and that is when "Hunter Of Stars" took shape. Back in Switzerland, I recorded it, and in that very time subscriptions for the ESC were open. I felt ready and also felt that ESC could be a good place where to play my folk song. And, being fond of challenges, I decided to participate."
We have to say we love "Hunter Of Stars"! What inspired you to write the song?
"It was my trip in the USA that inspired me to write “Hunter Of Stars”. The song has basically a main key of interpretation: There is always a clash between confidence and non-confidence in myself when it comes to flirt and love."
Could you tell us What you will you do to promote your song for Eurovision?
"We are planning some promotional dates in some countries which will participate in the ESC in Copenhagen. In addition, there will be concerts in Switzerland."
What are you most looking forward to about your Eurovision experience?
"Playing, playing, playing!"
Switzerland will be performing in the second half on semi final two at Eurovision, Is that a good place for you to performe do you think?
"It`s hard for me to estimate this. I think it is only important to excite the audience and to give my very best on stage – no matter whenever this is."
Switzerland have not had the best run of results in Eurovision the past few years, Do you think you are going to be the person to change this?
"I hope so!"
Since we are a Eurovision blog we have to ask this question. What is your favourite Eurovision song apart from your own song?
"I haven`t checked all the songs of my competitors, yet. From what I saw, I really like the band that won Malta`s final."
Finally, Is there anything you would like to say to your fans?
"Thank you very much for your support! I’m happy to be part of the ESC this year!"
A massive thank you to Sebalter for taking the time to answer our questions! We wish him loads of luck in Copenhagen!
