Hello!
A few weeks ago we launched a new feature that ment we interview someone from each country in the Eurovision Song Contest 2014 & ask their review on their countries entry!
Today we are interviewing Dennis Rott about Germany's 2014 entry!
Dennis Rott is from Germany and is a massive Eurovision fan! We sent Dennis a few questions about Germany's entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 2014 & he has kindly answered them for us!
Germany's entry in the Eurovision Song Contet 2014 is the girl band Elizia! They where given a wildcard to enter the German national final for Eurovision 2014 & then went on to win the selection with the song "Is It Right".See what Dennis said to us below!
1. Hello Dennis! Thank for agreeing to do this! How long have you been a Eurovision fan?
Dennis: Hey! You're welcome. Well, I've been a Eurovision fan since 2003! It was a quite cute show in Riga where Turkey won. My, in those days, very untutored Eurovision heart got addicted to ''Everyway that I can'' immidiately, so it grew and grew and grew!So every year since this time I watched the Eurovision Song Contest and since it came to my country, Germany, in 2011 I really cannot think about anything else.
2. This year Germany hosted a National Final to decide their Eurovision entry, Did you watch the national final? If you did what where your highlights?
Dennis: Of course I watched Unser Song für Dänemark! For me the whole show was a great moment, like every year and as a big highlight I remember our host singing ''Ein bisschen Frieden'' with the audience to Mister Putin. But of course the biggest highlight was the fabulous victory of Elaiza.
3. Germany selected Elaiza to represent them in Eurovision 2014, What do you think off their vocals?
Dennis: For me Elaiza is a very talented band who can sing very well. I was surprised, but also very happy that these newcomers could get the important victory for the contest over well-known artists like Unheilig or Oceana. Also we didn't have a big preselection, just USFD and the Clubkonzert, where we selected Elaiza as a wildcard winner for USFD. This shows us, that Germany really didn't know anything about Elaiza, but gave them the big chance, which could be based on nothing else but their talent.
4. The song Elaiza will be singing is "Is It Right", what do you think off the song?
Dennis: With the song ''Is it right'' Elaiza brings something very unique in this years ESC. This song has a very catchy refrain, in my opinion the catchiest, even though the song is not very fast. With the slow tempo it'll stay in the brains of the viewers even better and make them hopefully vote for Elaiza.
5. Elaia had another song in the national final called "Fight Against Myself", Are you happy "Is It Right" go chosen or would you have liked to have seen "Fight Against Myself" picked?
Dennis: Yes, I am very happy that Germany chose ''Is it right'' because the 2nd song - I didn't even remember the title - was just going nowhere.
6. As we know Germany is apart off the Big 5, which means their already in the final, Where do you think they will place overall?
Dennis: I think, we will get a place between 18-15 this year. Although I hope Elaiza will earn a higher spot, in my opinion it really depends on the starting position. If we get a late position this year, they could easily make it in the Top 15, but if we're early, the song could rather be forgotten.
7. Finally, what are you most looking foward to about Eurovision 2014?
Dennis: Eurovision 2014 with all it's amazing songs... I really cannot decide or think about something special, but of course I look most forward to the performances of my personal favorites.
