Hello!
A few weeks ago we launched a new feature that ment we interview someone from each country in the Eurovision Song Contest 2014 & ask their review on their countries entry!
Today we are interviewing Hanne Ramstad about Norway's 2014 entry!
Hanne Ramstad is 23 and from Lilehammer, Norway! We asked Hanne if we could talk about her countries Eurovision 2014 entry Carl Espen who will be representing Norway with the song "Silent Storm". Hanne kindly agreed to let us interview her and you can read what she had to say to us in the interview below!
1. Hello Hanne! First off all thank your for agreeing to do this interview! How long have you been a Eurovision fan?
Hanne: In 2003 my father switched to the eurovision final from Riga on the television. 12 year old me was hooked immediately and the love for the show and the eurovision-community has just grown bigger and bigger over the years!
2. Now we know you watched the Melodi Grand Prix, Could you tell us some off your favourite moments & songs from MGP?
Hanne: What I loved about the MGP this year is the fact that most of the artists were unknown to the norwegian people, letting some new blood get into the MGP-history. So the focus this year was on the actuall entries, instead of the artists themselves. I also like that they made the evening about the songs instead of hosts trying to take the limelights (Melodifestivalen, just saying!). NRK did a great job getting a variety of entries this season!
This year's MGP was all in all a nice change from previous years and even if the winner wasn't my personal favorite he still will bring us good results in Copehagen I believe!
3. After the voting it was announced Carl Espen had won with the song "Silent Storm"! Could you tell us what you think off the song?
Hanne: As I mentioned earlier, Carl Espen wasn't my favorite to win the MGP 2014, so of course I felt a bit sad for my personal favorite. But all in all I think the norwegian people made a very wise choice! The fact that this year's eurovision isn't overfloated with ballads like they've been previous years makes things look very good for "Silent Storm".
4. How would you compare "Silent Storm" to past Norweigan Eurovision entries?
Hanne: It's very different from earlier entries the past years! The thing I love about Norway in eurovision is how we've finally learned from our earlier mistakes and always try something new. We've become a dangerous competitor in the eurovision simply because we've turned into a country who keeps on surprising! So I think this years entry is a good contrast from earlier entries like Rybak, Berger, Tooji and so on.
5. We know that Norway will compete in semi final two off Eurovision 2014, Do you think Norway will qualify for the final?
Hanne: I feel like such a cocky jerk for saying this: But I think we will qualify without any problem. Of the two semi's I think the second one is the easier to qualify from, so I think Norway, Romania, FYR Macedonia, Ireland and Israel sure will qualify to the final without big problems.
6. In 2009 Norway won the contest with Alexander Rybak & now Norway are one of the favourites to win Eurovision again, How would you feel if Norway won the contest again in 2014?
Hanne: That would be an euphoric moment! 2 time winners in 5 years is really huge for us, since we've been stuggeling with being the "zero point nation" for so long. Going from one of the worst to one of the best makes my blood bubble and I would love to see Norway win in Copenhagen.
7. Finally we would like to ask you what are you most looking foward to in Eurovision 2014?
Hanne: I think this year is so great because ALOT of good entries has won across Europe so the winner isn't obvious on beforehand. There's a bunch of countries who may win and I think the top 3 on the scoreboard will be very close to each other when it comes to votes.
Also I love the cake-trend Belarus and Latvia brought to the party this year! Nice to go from last year's stalking-trend to something we can all relate to - CAKE!
At last I would like to say how excited I am about Denmark being the host country! And I really hope to see some Hans Christian Andersen-related interval acts and perhaps even some legos?
