Hello!
A few weeks ago we launched a new feature that ment we interview someone from each country in the Eurovision Song Contest 2014 & ask their review on their countries entry!
Today we are interviewing Nick Sahlene about Israel's 2014 entry!
Nick Sahlene is from the United Kingdom! Today we asked Nick if we could ask him a few questions about Israel entry in the Eurovision Song Contest 2014 and he has kindly agreed to answer them!
Israel's entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 2014 is Mei Finegold with the song "Same Heart" that was choosen by Kdam Eurovision 2014!
Read what Nick said to us below!
1. Hello Nick! Thank you for agreeing to this interview! Could you tell us how long you have been a Eurovision fan?
Nick: Well I started watching Eurovision in 2003 and remember the UK getting the infamous nil points, but didn't properly get into it until 2007. Since then it seems to take up my entire year!
2. This year Israel will be represented by Mei Finegold, Could you tell us how you would compare her to recent Israel entries?
Nick: I think Mei has a lot to offer to a competition such as Eurovision. I personally loved Dana International in 2011, but her live performance was weak - and Moran last year had a great voice but didn't have that stage presence that's needed in a Eurovision final. I feel that Mei has the complete package to get Israel back into the final!
3. The song Mei will be singing in Eurovision 2014 was decided by Kdam Eurovision 2014, Did you watch the show? And if you did watch it did you enjoy it?
Nick: I did watch it. I like a simple national selection, where the artist is selected internally but the public have a choice of three songs. I think that Kdam Eurovision 2014 is one of the more low-key events, but I did enjoy it.
4. The song that was choosen is "Same Heart", Could you tell us what you think off the song?
Nick: I love the song! It's one of my two favourites this year, along with the Netherlands. It has everything that I love in a Eurovision entry - a strong, powerful singer, a catchy chorus and it's bilingual (which I always love!)
5. Unfortunetly Israel have not made the final for the past three years, do you think Israel will make the final this year?
Nick: Definitely. Mei has one of the strongest songs in semi-final two and I don't think she'll have a problem qualifying. Having said that, Dana International and Moran were predicted to make the final, but didn't - so anything could happen!
6. Could you tell us where you think Israel will place overall in Eurovision 2014?
Nick: I predict that Israel will breeze through the semi-final and probably rank 10-15 overall. I'd love to see it make the top ten, but there is a lot of tough competition this year, such as Armenia, Hungary, Spain, Greece and Austria.
7. Finally we would like to ask what are you most looking forward to in Eurovision 2014?
Nick: I'm really looking forward to seeing how the UK does. I personally loved Bonnie last year, but there seems to be a very positive attitude to Molly and her song, so I hope to see her get on the left side of the leader board! I'm also looking forward to seeing how well my personal favourites do, such as Israel, the Netherlands, Austria and Sweden.
