Hello!
For a new feature we thought it would be a great idea to interview Eurovision fans about there countries 2014 Eurovision song! After each country picks their entry we will ask someone from that country for their opinion on the song that has been chosen to reprasent their country at the Eurovision Song Contest 2014 in Copenhagen, Denmark!
To start of this new feature we are going to start with Malta! On the 8th of February Malta held there national final to decide there entry for the Eurovision Song Contest, 14 act made the final and performed for there chance to reprasent their country at the Eurovision Song Contest, After the voting it was announced that Firelight would be reprasenting Malta with the song "Coming Home".
The person we will be talking to today is Shaun Attard! Shaun is a massive Eurovision fan from Silema, Malta and His favourite Eurovision song is Chiara "Angel". Read below to see his opinion on MESC & Malta's Eurovision 2014 entry.
Hey Shaun, Thank you for agreeing to do this! So first of all How did you enjoy your NF?
Thank you for having me Jessica In my opinion, Malta really put on an amazing show this year. Everything was was very well put and hard work really paid off. I think that we are ready to host JESC.
On friday Malta put through 14 acts to go through to saturdays final, did the right 14 go through?
Overall, I was quite pleased with the qualifiers, but I just couldn't understand why Miriam Christine with her song 'Safe' didn't make it through to the final. Another favourite of mine was 'Invisible' sung by Raquel , which also didn't make it through.
What did you think of the guests on fridays mesc?
Emmelie opened the show with her amazing song 'Only Teardrops'. There was also the Ukrainian representative, Maria Yaremchuk performing a different version of 'Tick Tock' on stage which people liked. I must say that Ira Losco and Gianluca Bezzina were the favourites of the night.
On saturday the 14 acts performed, who where your favourites?
I had quite a few actually! My favourite was DeBee with 'Pin the Middle'. Such an amazing and original song! I also liked the songs from Daniel Testa, Jessika, Amber, Pamela and Davinia.
After they performed who did you think was going to win and why?
I honestly couldn't pick a winner. At the end I went with Pamela since she had a great song and performed it well. Some songs sounded bad live, which was a disappointment.
Now for the important question, What do you think of Malta Eurovision 2014 act?
At first, I was shocked that 'Coming Home' won Many people were focused on other songs to win. I guess alot are still furious at the result,
but I do believe that Malta made the right choice last night It is quite different than what we usually send and it's not a song for everybody,
but Richard has experience and he will surely deliver in Copenhagen.
I really hope Malta do well for you Shaun! Where do you think you will place this year?
I am usually horrible at predicting places, but I guess we have a chance to qualify and end up between 15th-20th place We'll just have to wait and see!
How would you compare the song to Tomorrow?
I think they are both very different songs and also both songs are not for everybody, but they have quality in them 'Tomorrow' did unexpectedly well last year, I'm hoping the same will happen with 'Coming Home'.
Lets hope it does! Well thank you Shaun for this and wishing all the best to Malta in Copenhagen!
Thanks again for the interview Jessica! Goodluck for the UK aswell.
Thank you to Shaun for letting us talk to him! :)
