Hello!
A few weeks ago we launched a new feature that ment we interview someone from each country in the Eurovision Song Contest 2014 & ask their review on their countries entry!
For our final review we are interviewing Arianna Brooke about Belgium's 2014 entry!
Arianna is a massive Eurovision fan from Canada! We sent Arianna a few question's about Belgium's entry in the Eurovision Song Contest 2014 and she has kindly answered them for us!
Belgium's entry in Eurovision 2014 is Axel Hirsoux with the song "Mother". Read what Axel said to us below!
1. Hi Arianna! Thanks for agreeing to this! How long have you been a Eurovision fan?
Arianna: Hiya, Jess!! I've been a Eurovision fan since 2006 when I chose to write a report about Kate Ryan for French class, discovered she was in fact doing Eurovision that year and was immediately hooked :)
2. This year Belgium choose their entry by a national final, Did you watch the show? if you did what where your highlights?
Arianna: Indeed I watched Eurosong! My highlights were the stunning venue, Ruslana's exuberant style of judging, Sil, Bandits, Yass and Udo.
3. It was announced Axel had been choosen to represent Belgium, What do you think of his vocals?
Arianna: Axel has one of the best set of vocals in this year's contest.
4. The song Axel will sing is "Mother", what do you think off the song?
Arianna: Not the song for me, but I understand that in other cultures, the song might hit close to home. It's sentimental and moving, though it goes too overboard for my liking.
5. How would you compare "Mother" to recent Belgium Eurovision entries?
Arianna: Mother compared to recent Belgian entries seems really subdued and formal. There is no quirkiness to it that the Belgian entries sometimes bring and it seems traditional.
6. Belgium will be performing 10th in semi final one, is this a good place for them do you think?
Arianna: I'm no expert on the prospects of the running order placing, It seems like an averagely drawn spot that could probably end up unlucky if it was a weaker song. I do not think the running order placing will harm Axel due to the memorable song, the message and his strong voice.
7. Where do you think Belgium will place overall?
Arianna: No idea where Belgium will place overall, actually. I'm taking a blind guess here. I think Belgium will definitely qualify and if it wins the audience's hearts over, then it could be within the top 10, like 8th or 9th, or just, just outside of it.
8. Finally, what are you most looking foward to about Eurovision 2014?
Arianna: I'm looking forward to a surprise winner, the stage acts, seeing the fantastic stage itself in full action and seeing the transition of the artists from their respective NFs to the big shows :)!!
