Hello!
You may remember a few months ago ESC-Starz asked you guys to review entries for the Eurovision Song Contest 2014 (If you have not seen them you can click here) and now we have decided to bring the fan reviews back but this time for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2014!
Today we will be bringing you the fan review for Ukraine's entry in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2014. Ukraine's entry in JESC this year is girl band Sympho-Nick, who will perform the song "Priyde Vesna".
The person who will be reviewing Ukraine's entry is Tim from the Netherlands! You can read what Tim says to us below!
1. Hello Tim! Thank you for agreeing to do this! How long have you been a Junior Eurovision fan for?
Tim: 2008´s contest, the sixth JESC contest, was the first JESC I´ve ever seen! I really enjoyed it, and I watched it again every year – just like the ESC for ´adults´. I almost went to the 2012´s contest but I wasn´t that into ESC at that moment. The time that I become a massive ESC freak (2013´s adults contest) I became a fan of JESC too and I almost know all songs from the contest.
2. This year Ukraine decided their entry through a national selection. Did you watch the selection? If you did what where some of your highlights?
Tim: I watched the Ukrainian National Final of course! It was really fun to watch, and I thought how brave those children were to sing their own-written songs live on stage! Some of the highlights were the slightly annoying commentator, the commercials which weren´t shown, and the songs of course.
3. This year Sympho-Nick will represent Ukraine, what do you think of their vocals?
Tim: Not bad, actually! They´re not synchronous sometimes but with some help they´ll fix that problem. Also, I have to admit – all what I would´ve done on their age was a bit of squealing, so I have huge respect for their vocals.
4. The song Sympo-Nick will sing at JESC 2014 will be "Priyde vesna", What do you think of the song?
Tim: To be honest, it wasn´t my favourite for the NF´s victory. But, after it won, I began to like it, actually! It isn´t bad and the chorus is quite good. It reminds me to Georgia´s 2009 entry (which is one of their lowest placed entries) but I think this song will do better than that princes entry. Not only because I like it more. But, I´m a bit disappointed in the song after two great – winner-worthy – entries in 2012 and 2013.
5. We know that so far only two countries have confirmed their JESC songs but we have to ask this question, Where do you think Ukraine will place overall in the contest?
Tim: I think this will place somewhere between 8th and 3rd place, with maybe two or three 12s. Also, the epic earthquake (it looks like an earthquake anyway) and the three cute girls will cause that people will have attention for the song and vote for it. Also, Ukraine has the benefits that the whole world is watching them at the moment, and they´ll probably get high points from former-Soviet countries.
6. Finally, what are you most looking foward to about Junior Eurovision 2014?
Tim: Malta hosting the JESC and the great songs of course!
