Hello!
A few weeks ago we launched a new feature that ment we interview someone from each country in the Eurovision Song Contest 2014 & ask their review on their countries entry!
Today we are interviewing Yana Brizga about Ukraine's 2014 entry!
Yana is a Eurovision fan from Latvia! We asked Yana if we could send her some questions and she has kindly agreed to answer them for us!
The questions we sent Yana where about Ukraine's entry for Eurovision 2014, which is Mariya Yaremchuk with the song "Tick Tock"!
Read what Yana said to us below!
1. Hi Yana! Thanks for agreeing to this! How long have u been a Eurovision fan?
Yana: No problem.:) I've been Eurovision fan since 2006. I was 11 years old and it was my first contest, which I watched to the end and didn't fall asleep. Since then, Eurovision has become an important part of my life. In May I usually think more about contest than about studies.
2. Could you tell us a few of your favourite Eurovision songs?
Yana: I have a favourite song every year, but I still listen to very few songs. These are "The war is not over" (Latvia, 2005), "Never let you go" (Russia, 2006), "Sweet people" (Ukraine, 2010), "Angel in disguise" (Latvia, 2011) and "I feed you my love" (Norway, 2013).
3. This year Ukraine will be represented by Mariya Yaremchuk, How would you compare her vocals to previous Ukraine entries?
Yana: In my opinion Ukraine always sends deserving participants and Maria Yaremchuk isn't an exception. I think that Maria chose a same way as Ruslana and Ani Lorak because "Tick-Tock" is a dance song like "Wild dance" and "Shady lady". And this is very good because we remember that Ruslana won in 2004, Ani Lorak recieved second place in 2008.
4. Mariya will be singing the song "Tick Tock", what do you think off the song?
Yana: I like "Tick-tock" so much. It's my favourite this year. I think that Eurovision has a certain format and "Tick-tock" ideally fits to this format. It's a great melodi song.
5. As we know Mariya revamped the song just before the song deadline, Do you think the revamped version is better than the original?
Yana: I can't say that the old version was bad, but the new version is delightful. New arrangement and lyrical changes make the song more memorable. And I also can say that the new version is impressionable from the first listen and it is very important in Eurovision.
6. Ukraine will be performing 9th in Semi final one, Do you think that is a good place for them to perform? And do you think they will make the final?
Yana: In my opinion if the performance is fine, it will be in final regardless of serial number. But I think that it's really good to perform in a middle of the show. Firstly, first numbers are very dangerous because people may forget the performance. Secondly, last numbers aren't good because many people are already tired of the concert and they are waiting for voting. That's why I think that middle of the show is the best way for participant.
Yes, I think Ukraine will make the final this year again, because Maria has all to succeed: good song, beautiful appearance and bright performance (i hope so).
7. Finally, what are you most looking foward to about Eurovision 2014?
Yana: I can't wait to see all singers on Copenhagen's stage. And I hope that voting will be tense and honest. Good luck to all participants!:)
