Last
year we started the Eurovision Fan Reviews, where you the readers
review the songs taking part in the Eurovision Song Contest. And today
we bring you the 9th Eurovision Fan Review for the 2015 contest!
The person who we will be reviewing the next song in the 2015 fan reviews is Chiara from Italy. She will be reviewing the Norway Eurovision entry "A Monster Like Me" by
Mørland and Debrah Scarlett.
You can check out what she has to say about the entry below.
1. Hello Chiara, thank you for agreeing to this, how long have you been a Eurovision fan for?
Chiara: Hi! Thanks to you, it's a pleasure for me. Well, I've been following Eurovision since 2011, when Italy came back and since I was born after the Italian withdrawn from the contest, I didn't know anything about it before. My earliest memory of Eurovision is opening act of the final from 2011. But I'm a true fan since 2012 and I've been watching all the shows since then.
2. This year Norway picked their entry from the selection Melodi Grand Prix 2015. Did you watch the show? If you did what were some of your highlights?
Chiara: Unfortunately I wasn't able to watch MGP live this year but as soon as I came home, I watched it and I really really enjoyed it. My favourite part of the show was when Carl and his cousin Josefin sang Silent Storm, it was a very touching performance. Another highlight of the show for me has to be the girls' choir in Tor and Bettan's percent, I think it was so cute!
3. As we know Mørland & Debrah Scarlett won MGP 2015. What was your reaction when they won?
Chiara: They were my favourite and I was so happy when they won! Norway is my favourite country in Eurovision and every year I'm surprised by what they send. And even if they've already sent a ballad last year, I think the two are very different and unique.
4. The song Mørland & Debrah Scarlett will be performing is called "A Monster Like Me", what do you think of the song?
Chiara: The song is a very beautiful ballad, one of my favourites this year. It's alternative and mysterious and I really like how Mørland and Debrah's voices sound together. They're definitely going to stand out in Vienna.
5. How would you compare "A Monster Like Me" to recent Eurovision entries from Norway?
Chiara: In the last 10 years Norway sent really good song and they were pretty much all different: they sent glam rock, folk, ballads, dance, and even ethnopop. Almost all of them stole my heart in a different way. As I said, this year's song is very alternative and it stands out not only from this year's Eurovision, but also from Norway's previous songs, because it's not what you expect from them.
6. As we know Norway will perform 6th in the second semi-final, do you think this is a good place for them to perform?
Chiara: I think it's a very good position: it's quite in the middle of the show and it will be easy for them to pass in the final. They will definitely get my vote, not only in the final, but in the semifinal too.
7. Where do you think Norway will place overall in this years contest?
Chiara: It's really difficult to tell, but if it was up to me, they would be in the top 3. Unfortunately not anyone has the same taste, so I really hope for the top 10 for them, they really deserve it.
8. Finally, what are you most looking foward to about this years contest?
Chiara: First of all, I really can't wait to see the stage, because I still don't know if I like it or not. Second, I'm looking forward to seeing Conchita again and I'm sure she will be fabulous as always!
